Why Would You Need to Split a PDF?
PDF splitting is one of the most useful document tasks you'll encounter. Whether you received a 200-page report and only need pages 10–25, need to send individual chapters separately, or want to extract a single page as a standalone file — a PDF splitter handles it in seconds.
Common real-world scenarios include separating combined invoices, extracting contract pages for signature, splitting textbook chapters, or dividing a scanned document into individual pages for archiving.
Quick Tip: Splitting doesn't modify or delete your original PDF — it creates new smaller files. Always keep your original intact.
3 Ways to Split a PDF
Our PDF Splitter supports three different splitting modes, each suited to a different use case:
- By Page Range — Extract pages 5–15 as one file, pages 20–30 as another
- Extract Specific Pages — Pick individual pages: 1, 5, 12, 18
- Split Every Page — Create a separate PDF for every single page
Method 1 — Split by Page Range
Upload Your PDF
Drag or click to upload. Our tool shows you a page count so you know your range boundaries.
Enter Page Ranges
Type ranges like 1-5, 6-12, 13-20. Each range becomes a separate output PDF file.
Click Split & Download
Each range downloads as its own PDF. Multiple ranges are packaged in a ZIP file.
Method 2 — Extract Specific Pages
Need pages 3, 7, and 15 only? Enter them comma-separated: 3, 7, 15. The output is a single PDF containing only those three pages in that order. Great for extracting a signature page, a specific exhibit, or cherry-picking key pages from a lengthy report.
Method 3 — Split Every Page Into Separate PDFs
For archiving scanned documents, processing individual pages in a workflow, or separating a batch-scanned set of invoices, the "Split All Pages" mode creates one PDF per page. A 50-page document produces 50 individual PDF files, conveniently zipped for download.
Note: Splitting a 300-page document into individual pages produces 300 files. Consider whether you actually need this — page range splitting is usually more practical.
Split vs Extract — What's the Difference?
| Action | What It Does | Output |
|---|---|---|
| Split by Range | Divide into multiple multi-page PDFs | 2+ PDF files |
| Extract Pages | Pull specific pages into one PDF | 1 PDF with chosen pages |
| Split All Pages | Every page = its own file | N PDFs (one per page) |
| Delete Pages | Remove pages from existing PDF | 1 PDF with pages removed |
