Why Would You Need to Split a PDF?
Large PDFs often contain more than what one recipient needs. Splitting lets you share only the relevant section — pages 10–25 of a 200-page report, the signature page of a contract, or individual chapters of a textbook. It's also essential for file size management: splitting a large PDF and sharing only the necessary pages is far more practical than sending a massive combined file.
- Extract a specific chapter or section from a long document
- Separate individual invoices from a combined monthly PDF
- Pull out the signature page from a contract for separate signing
- Split a batch-scanned set of separate documents back into individual files
- Break a large report into smaller sections for different team members
Three Splitting Modes — Choose the Right One
| Mode | Input | Output | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Split by Range | e.g., 1-5, 6-12, 13-20 | Multiple PDFs by range | Chapters, sections |
| Extract Pages | e.g., 3, 7, 15 | One PDF with chosen pages | Cherry-picking specific pages |
| Split All Pages | All pages | One PDF per page | Individual invoices, archive |

Single output: downloads as one PDF. Multiple outputs: all files are packaged in a ZIP archive, named sequentially.
Split by Page Range — Examples
Enter ranges separated by commas. Each range becomes its own PDF output file:
1-5→ one PDF with pages 1 to 51-5, 6-12, 13-20→ three PDFs, one per range1-3, 10-15, 50-60→ three non-consecutive range PDFs
Extract Specific Pages
Enter individual page numbers separated by commas: 3, 7, 15, 22 → one PDF containing only pages 3, 7, 15, and 22 in that order. Useful for pulling out non-consecutive specific pages — signature pages, key exhibits, or summary pages from a long document.
Combine Modes: Need both a range AND specific individual pages? Split in two operations — range split first, then extract individual pages from the result. Both outputs can be merged afterward if needed.

Split PDF NowSplit All Pages — One PDF Per Page
The most granular option: every single page becomes its own PDF file. A 50-page document produces 50 individual PDFs, downloaded as a ZIP archive named page-001.pdf through page-050.pdf. Use this for processing individual invoices, archiving single-page certificates, or feeding pages individually into a document management workflow.
